Amy is a hair wizard. A hairy godmother if you will. On top of that she is a color genius. I followed her from Jungle Red to here as she opened her own salon a little over a year ago. She is so knowledgeable and helpful. I am not the most hair-competent person but Amy will listen to my input, dig through the main points, get a good idea of the process to go through, and execute it so well. She is so patient and truly loves her job and takes pride in her work (trust me you can tell). I've been pink, red, purple-ish pink and all have looked great. If you're looking for someone who is very skilled with color (crazy colors to natural-looking color), Amy is 100% your girl.

Brianna is so incredibly sweet, creative & talented! I tried for years to get a particular layered cut, and time after time the random stylist couldn’t do it right. But when Brianna cut my hair, she gave me the most beautiful layers. I literally could’ve cried. If you’ve ever felt the disappointment of always trying to find a new stylist, that’ll stop once you see what Brianna can do. 💕🥰💞 She’s amazing.

I noticed this charming new shop in our neighborhood, and was in need of a new hair stylist. I'm thrilled to report that Amy is superb!! It was easy to book a convenient appointment on-line. If you need parking, it's plentiful. Her shop is sparkling clean with an excellent aesthetic. I had a great wash, haircut, dry, with some lessons on how to better style my waves. I plan to go back for color! I feel thrilled to have such a gem in the neighborhood, and I highly recommend Amy and The House of High Maintenance.

I have been going to Amy for over four years now and will never need or want another stylist. As an African-American, queer person, my hair has been important as part of my self expression and my power. From the moment I did a consultation with Amy years ago, I felt comfortable and knew that I was with someone who understood the beauty that hair can help someone feel. She understood what it meant for me to entrust the care (and coloring) of my hair to her. Since we began working together as client and stylist, she's taken me through evolutions that have taken my breath away and made me cry (we do this thing where now I don't look in the mirror until she's done with the new color - if that's not trust, I don't know what is). She has helped me embody an internal self that I once only dreamed of. Throughout, that has meant meticulous planning of how to color my hair, cut it, and listening to my changes that I've gone through as a person. She also does this magical thing of helping someone elevate themselves and see themselves as beautiful. Every step of the process and our work together has been a gift. 10/10, no notes.
